Jeddah Dawa'h Center excels in JBL

JEDDAH — The Jeddah Dawa'h Center of coach Ali Lumanog upset Saudia Aviations 71-66 at Bin Mahfouz Basketball Court here recently.
The winner almost collapsed in its offense in the dying seconds of the game, but the loser missed its three-point jumper. Mohrab scored 25 points for JDC and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game. Noel Alegre scored 17 points for Saudia Aviations.
The tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi) Wael Sports Wear (Noel), and Arabian Food Supplies (Ahmad Miri).
Toyota ALJ of Noel Sun beat Aces 93-87. It was a sea-saw battle throughout the game. Asst. coach Carmelo Melendrez wisely reshuffled his players to halt the offense of Aces in the dying seconds of the game. Paul Taguba led the winning team with 25 points. He was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Ismael scored 18 points for the losers.
In another game United Naghi of Dante Caraan defeated Tike Restaurant 70-56. Good offense in the final quarter helped lift United Naghi to victory.
Henry Constiniano netted 17 points for United Naghi to pick the TFC Player of the Game award. Adonis Malabarbas had 21 points for the losing side.
Another game saw Mini Cooper of coach Rolando Tayco edge Fuddruckers 78-75. Sherwin Cabading top scored with a career high of 38 points for Mini Cooper and was adjudged the Saudi Sign Player of the Game winner. Marlon Melendez scored 28 points for the losing side.
Saudia Catering of coach Macron Maycacayan scored a 64-36 win over DHL Express. Hassan Makki scored 16 points for the caterers and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Bryian Rafael scored 11 points for the losers.
In Friday matches, Mini Cooper beat Tike Restaurant 72-66 for a back-to-back win. Sherwin Cabading top scored with 25 points and was adjudged the Al-Haddaf Player of the Game. Malabarbas led Tike Restaurant with 21 points.
Hyundai Genesis of Dennis Elmenzo beat Chilis Restaurant 79-72. Aaron Makarimban top scored with 21 points and was adjudged the Wael Sports Player of the Game. Rhandy Deiparine scored 26 points for Chilis.
Nissan of Francis Gallego won by default against Red Hot Guys 20-0 after the losing side turned up for the game with only four players.
