JEDDAH — Nissan G-TR of Francis Gallego beat Bradley Braves 72-63 in the JBL 2nd Conference Non-Rated Basketball Tournament 2012 at Bin Mahfouz basketball court here recently. Nissan played offense wisely in the final quarter as the Bradley Braves defense ran out of steam. Destressa had 17 points for Nissan and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game, while Santos led Bradley Braves with 16 points. The tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN – The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi) and Wael Sports Wear (Noel). Jeddah Rockers of Romeo Corpuz scored a 75-67 win over Saudia Aviations. The losers were in the driver's seat up to the third quarter. Jeddah Rockers, however, applied man-to-man defense in the final quarter to get back into the game. Paul Villareal scored 18 points for Jeddah Rockers to claim the JBL Player of the Game honors. Richard Velasquez had 17 points for Romeo Corpuz. Saudi Diyar of Jeff Esperanza beat Viagra Naghi 70-67. Saudi Diyar showed heart in the crucial two minutes of the game as Viagra Naghi tried to change a gear. Raul Datuin top-scored for Saudi Diyar with 16 points and was adjudged the TFC Player of the Game while Rex Ablaza scored 21 points for Viagra Naghi. In Friday matches, Erfan Hospital of Arwin Ochavillo beat DHL Express 77-42. Erfan Hospital dominated the shaded area up to the final quarter as DHL Express missed important baskets. Adel led for Erfan Hospital with 20 points and claimed the JBL Player of the Game award. Ante had 12 points for DHL Express. In another match, STC Terabytes beat Red Hot Guys 64-63. It was a lucky break for STC coach Randy Tuazon with 12 seconds remaining in the final quarter. STC's Lloyd Zamora attacked the basket for a quick two points. The Red Hot Guys unleashed a desperation basket to edge STC as the buzzer sounded but in vain. Sonny Sorreta top-scored with 20 points for STC to claim the Saudi Sign Player of the Game honors. Dizon and Jessie scored 11 points apiece for Red Hot Guys. Another match saw ALJ Toyota of Noel Sun beat Jeddah Marriott Hotel 78-75. A costly turnover by Marriott Hotel in the crunch time gave ALJ Toyota a memorable win. The winner fed Paul Taguba who drove to the basket and scored the winning shot. Montano Dela Cruz scored 20 points for the ALJ Toyota and was adjudged the Al-Haddaf Player of the Game. Aris Samson and Albert Miano had 21 points apiece for Jeddah Marriott Hotel.
