RIYADH – Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) introduced a recycling program, considered to be the first-of-its- kind in the Kingdom, that allows customers and non-customers alike, to exchange their old mobile phones, whether functional or damaged, and to replace them with new smart phones, including iPhone 4S or Samsung Galaxy SIII. Customers only need to pay the difference in price between the old phone and the new phone. STC has allocated employees for this program in its offices located at Al-Ghadeer District near Exit 5 on King Abdulaziz Road in Riyadh, Prince Sultan Street in Jeddah, and Montazah District on Al-Dhahran Street in Al-Khobar. The old phones evaluation is conducted according to their condition, and an appropriate price would be offered to customers based on a comprehensive pricelist that is updated on a monthly basis. The program maintains the highest level of customer privacy protection and confidentiality, as the old phones are not resold. The material is instead recycled for use in manufacturing new phones as to contribute to protecting the environment. Customers receive the best potential value for their phone, based on an international pre-set database that lists each device model, condition, and equivalent price. Moreover, STC offers competitive prices on the new smart phones, in addition to a SIM card and a free Internet bundle, depending on the type of phone. – SG
