Abdul Rahman Al-Ali Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – A former Jeddah mayor and a Saudi businessman will appear Tuesday morning before the Jeddah Administrative Court to face corruption charges related to the Jeddah flood case. Also, a senior Jeddah mayoralty official, who was on suspension, will appear before the court on charges of bribery and abuse of power to gain financial rewards. In an earlier statement, the Control and Investigation Board said the Jeddah flood case trials are ongoing. The CIB recently referred 30 people to the court after investigations showed that they were involved in the case. The accused are of different nationalities and some of them were government employees while others held senior positions at contracting companies. In all, the CIB has so far referred 88 suspects to the Administrative Court of thae Bureau of Grievances. They have been accused of taking bribes, forging official documents, abusing official powers and using illegal methods to make money. The CIB stressed that it will investigate and charges against anyone who is involved in the Jeddah flood case, regardless of whether he was a governmental official or an employee in the private sector.
