GOIANIA, Brazil — Neymar converted a penalty kick in the final minute of injury time Wednesday to give Brazil a 2-1 win over Argentina in the first leg of the Superclassic of the Americas, a home-and-away series played by the South American rivals with players from local clubs. Neymar scored from the penalty spot after a handball by an Argentine defender inside the area. Juan Martinez opened the scoring for Argentina with a shot from inside the area in the 20th minute and Brazil midfielder Paulinho equalized with a header off a cross by Neymar in the 27th. The second leg of the series, organized by the South American football federation, will be played on Oct. 3 at the inland city of Resistencia in Argentina. Sounders in quarters In Honduras, Sammy Ochoa, Eddie Johnson and Brad Evans scored as the Seattle Sounders beat Honduran club Marathon 3-2 Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League. The winning goal came when Evans headed in a corner from Mario Roberto Martinez in the 77th minute for Seattle. Seattle finished with nine points in Group Four. Ochoa gave Seattle a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 11th minute before Mario Berrios equalized for Marathon with a penalty in the 34th. Eddie Johnson gave Seattle a lead in the 62th minute, but Marathon's Berrios leveled it again with a second penalty five minutes later. Both teams played two years ago when Marathon won a 2-1 against the Sounders. They will play again in Seattle on Oct. 24. The Los Angeles Galaxy and the Puerto Rico Islanders played to a 0-0 draw also in the CONCACAF Champions League. The draw left the Galaxy in the lead in Group 5 over Isidro Metapan.
