Nader Al-Anzi Okaz/Saudi Gazette TABUK — A woman of Arab nationality has told of the horrific treatment at the hands of her husband of 27 years and said his constant beatings has finally forced her to file for divorce. She added that despite this her husband continued taunting her and deliberately tampered with her ID card so it carried a different name to hers. She said: “I was looking for a way to save myself from my husband, who I married when I was 15. “Five years ago, my husband beat me and I filed a complaint against him at the police station. “Officers somehow managed to resolve the situation but shortly after he started insulting and beating me. “He then injured my head and broke one of my hands during one his beatings and I filed a case at Tabuk Public Court where he was sentenced to flogging and imprisonment for a whole week." She said she has not had one good day during her marriage, which has given them four daughters and two sons. She added: “I also found the name on my identification card was not the same as I am known by my family." The eldest daughter said she and her siblings had called many organizations to help her mother, but to no avail. She said her mother looked after her children using the money from social security and from her work. Meanwhile, Tabuk police spokesman Capt. Khalid Al-Ghabban said the husband was sentenced to imprisonment and lashes after the complaint from his wife. Saud Al-Ghaithi, Director of Civil Defense in Tabuk, said the family must submit an official letter to the concerned authorities in order to verify her ID card.
