Ambassador Mohammed Naeem Khan and Defense Attaché Brig. Tahir Gulzar Malik hosted a reception at Tuwaiq Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter Saturday night to commemorate this remarkable day in the history of Pakistan. “Sept. 6 is a day of our national pride," Brig. Malik said. “At 4 A.M. on Sept. 6, 1965, the Indian Army staged a blitzkrieg crossing the Wagah border expecting to capture Lahore, but the indomitable will of Pakistani soldiers, many of whom sacrificed their lives on the day, defeated the aggressors." High-ranking officers from the armed forces of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, as well as ambassadors and defense attaches from several countries attended the event. Prince Abdulaziz Bin Bandar Bin Mishari was the chief guest. A photo exhibition on the occasion reflected the strong and historical Saudi-Pakistan relations, which go back to early 1950's. A large number of Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia attended the reception and paid homage to the brave sons of the soil, who demonstrated formidable courage and valor in defending the homeland.
