LAGOS — A Nigerian journalist says he was attacked by police and security agents after taking a photograph of a cabinet minister's convoy getting stuck in the mud. Terhemba Daka, a journalist with The Guardian daily newspaper, said Thursday that the attack happened as he accompanied Olajumoke Akinjide, the federal capital's Minister of State, on a tour with other reporters outside of Abuja. When the convoy became stuck on Tuesday, Daka said he took a photograph with his BlackBerry mobile phone and was then attacked by police officers and members of the State Security Service. Daka said police deleted the images from his phone. Underpaid journalists in Nigeria are routinely harassed and attacked by security forces. Others have been killed, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. — AP
