Dr. Shah leads US delegation in Riyadh, travels to refugee areas along Jordanian BorderRIYADH ‚ Dr. Rajiv Shah, the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), traveled to Riyadh and Amman from Sept. 3-5 to lead the US government delegation to Yemen's Donor Conference. The Kingdom is co-hosting the conference along with the World Bank and the government of Yemen.The conference is an important opportunity for the international community to engage in direct dialogue with the Yemeni government and international partners about advancing political, economic, security and governance reform in Yemen.¬†The meeting is aimed at guiding international assistance and development efforts through discussions with Yemeni interlocutors, including the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and other international partners.The United States said in a statement that it continues to stand by the Yemeni people as they take steps to realize a more secure, prosperous, and democratic future.While in Jordan on Sept. 5, Dr. Shah is scheduled to meet with senior Jordanian officials, representatives of the United Nations, international non-governmental organizations and others to discuss the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria and U.S. assistance for those affected by the crisis. The USAID administrator will also travel to areas along the Jordanian border and speak with individuals who have fled the violence in Syria.
