Saudi Gazette report NAJRAN — In an attempt to escape punishment, a father who beat his son to death in the Sharoura governorate tried to bury him without a death certificate, said Maj. Abdulrahman Al-Shamrani, spokesman for the Najran police. He said before burying him, the father brought his son's body to the hospital where doctors found a 3 cm deep wound on the boy's head and bruises all over his body. The father claimed that his son had sustained the injury and bruises when he fell off the house's roof. He said doctors at the hospital refused to sign a death certificate because of the suspicious nature of the injuries. When questioned by the police, the father admitted that he beat his son to discipline him. Police referred the case to the Investigation and Prosecution Board's branch in Sharoura. He said the entire family was suffering from the ordeal after the man was taken into custody last week. Maj. Al-Shamrani said the boy's body was kept at the morgue of the Armed Forces Hospital in Sharoura as the prosecutor has ordered an autopsy.
