year-old boy is on the verge of death from injuries inflicted by his father and the man's case has been referred to the Board of Investigation and Prosecution, officials said Sunday. The man is accused of beating and torturing his two sons, seven-year-old Waleed and four-year-old Abdulrahman, who faces life-threatening injuries, officials said. When Abdulrahman was brought to the Military Hospital in Tabuk for examination, the doctor reported to the Military Police that he had suspicions about the boy's injuries, officials said. The father denied the accusation and blamed the boy's brother, but when officials checked Waleed, they found signs that he, too, was a victim of violence and was hospitalized beside his brother. The man and his wife were arrested; the man said during the interrogation that he beat them only once, a month ago, using an electrical wire, but his wife said he would beat them if they made even a silly mistake such as leaving the house in a mess, according to officials. They said initial reports on the boys' conditions showed that Abdulrahman is suffering from acute kidney failure and dehydration, severe sores on his scalp and back, a wound on his right knee, injuries to his torso and cannot move the lower part of his body. Waleed was found to have bruises on his wrists, multiple bruises on his hands and feet, and skin damage; those injuries indicate that he may have been tortured with hot objects, officials said. A Human Rights Society source said it will follow up the case. Col. Mubarak Al-Oqbi, Director of the Criminal Control Department, said the father is a security man who divorced the boys' mother a year ago and remarried another woman a few months ago. The Social Follow-Up Office was notified about the case, he added.
