RIYADH – Nissan Motor Company might withdraw its distributorship rights from Al-Hamrani Company and appoint Al-Issa Company as its new agent in Saudi Arabia, Al-Eqtisadiya Arabic daily reported Sunday quoting informed sources. Visits to Abdul Latif Alissa Automotive Company's showrooms showed that the company has already started marketing Nissan vehicles in the Kingdom. Informed sources also said that Alissa and Omar Abu Bakr Balubaid Automotive Company have stopped distributing GM cars because GM withdraw its distributorship rights from them. The same sources said that Alissa Company regained Nissan Motor Company's trust. However, the final approval has not been given to Alissa as the contract signed between Al-Hamrani Company and Nissan is still valid. Sources also said Al-Hamrani has been suffering, over the past period, from administrative problems and disputes. Besides, its sales in the Kingdom decreased, a matter which strained the business relations with Nissan. Al-Eqtisadiya tried to reach some senior staff members of Al-Hamrani to get a comment and clarification about this news. It was able to reach Emad Abdullah, deputy CEO, Al-Hamrani, when contacted by Al-Eqtisadiya on the issue, said “there's no such thing. We're still Nissan's agent in the Kingdom." Nissan Motor Company is one of the pioneering companies around the world and it entered the Saudi market 50 years ago with Al-Hamrani Company being its sole agent. – SG
