Concha Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — A group of Oversea Filipino workers (OFWs) in Jeddah recently donated assorted clothes, toiletries and foods to the distressed domestic helpers currently housed at the Filipino Workers Resource Center (FWRC) at the Philippine Consulate last Friday. Thirty-eight people received donation from the Community Service team of the Overseas Filipino Workers Cooperative Council headed by Mauricia Garcia together with the graduates of the computer literacy seminar and the Team ASTIG Headed by Mar Par Jr. Garcia said the group project of providing assistance to the needy is one of the most important elements of their program. The team has been doing their advocacy with the help of other organizations and individuals, thanking Facebook for being an instrument in inspiring others to help. Par said their team is receiving some donations from kind-hearted individuals who are supporting their campaign “Feeding the Distressed program." He said they are happy with the assistance provided by the consulate to the distressed in the past. “We met 55 OFWs during our recent activities three months ago and now they have gone home and probably enjoying their life with their families in our homeland and only a few of those we met last time are left," Par said.
