Hussein Hazazi Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The parents of the three girls who sustained moderate to severe injuries Wednesday when they fell off the Octopus Ride at an amusement park in Jeddah said that they would sue those responsible for the accident. The three girls sustained fractures and several injuries to the head, legs and the pelvis. Their treatment is expected to take between 3-6 months according to medical reports. Okaz/Saudi Gazette met one of the girls, Raghad Abdo, who is being treated at a private hospital. “I was on the Octopus when the car started spinning really fast while moving up and down. The operator of the ride was not there to stop it. I tried to jump off but couldn't. I was hit in the head and passed out. I don't remember what happened after that,” she recounted. Raghad's father, Hesham Abdo, said his daughter and the family had been left traumatized by the accident, which will require months of rehabilitation. “My daughter's treatment will take several months as Raghad suffered from traumas and contusions to the face and ears in addition to a fracture in the right shoulder. Screws were inserted into Raghad's pelvis. They say she will be bidridden for at least two months,” he said. Salah Al-Juhani, the father of Atheer, 12, who was transported from King Fahd General Hospital to Royal Commission Hospital in Yanbu, also vowed to sue those responsible. “My daughter has sustained several injuries. She feels pain all over her body.” The third girl, Bashayer Al-Rimsh, who came from Riyadh to Jeddah to spend Eid Al-Fitr holidays, has been discharged from the hospital. She sustained contusions to the head, the pelvis and the right leg. Meanwhile, Civil Defense investigations are still going on to find out the cause and circumstances of the accident. The results are expected within a few days.
