JEDDAH – Two Saudis have been named as potential contenders to replace Ekmeleddin Ihsanglu, the current Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), whose term expires in 2014, a source at the OIC was quoted as saying by Al-Hayat newspaper.The source said Iyad Madani, former Minister of Culture and Information, and a Saudi official currently working for the government are under consideration for the post.He said the Kingdom is expected to submit the name of its candidate either during the ministerial meeting which is scheduled to take place in Djibouti in mid November or the OIC ministerial meeting which will be held in Guinea in mid-2013.Since its foundation in 1969, the OIC has never had a Saudi fill this key post. — SG
