HAIL – The Health Affairs in Hail has begun an investigation into a medical malpractice complaint lodged by the husband of a 26-year-old woman who was given the wrong type of blood resulting in a miscarriage. The pregnant woman was admitted to a hospital for a routine checkup and doctors said her unborn child's condition was normal but recommended a blood transfusion. However, she was given the wrong blood type, which caused renal failure and the miscarriage. She was subsequently discharged from the hospital and subjected to weekly hemodialysis sessions. Her husband lodged a complaint with the governorate against the hospital. According to a legal advisor who has knowledge of the case, the official medical report states that the hospital is at fault. “The woman must be fully compensated for everything she has suffered," he said.
