A man has lodged a complaint against a government hospital in Riyadh accusing the hospital of giving his seven-month pregnant wife “improper” medication causing her to lose her eyesight. The complaint was lodged last week with the Ministry of Health. The man, Bakhit Al-Dawsari, said that his wife went to the hospital for a routine check-up. The doctor said that the woman needed four injections and the baby had to be delivered prematurely. According to Al-Dawsari, the medical report stated that his wife went blind because she had nasal mycosis that affected her optic nerve. However, he claims that the blindness was caused by the medicine administered to his wife. He urged the Shariah Medical Committee to probe into the incident. The director of the government hospital could not be reached for comments.
