The homeowner had installed the camera to identify children who kept bothering him by playing soccer outside his house. However, when he came home one day to see that his home's water pump was missing, he went through surveillance footage and saw two men stealing the water pump in a matter of three minutes. He immediately called police, reported the theft and provided officers with the footage, which shows a green colored vehicle pulling up in front of the house. A man is then seen getting out and checking the house before returning to the car. Moments later, he pulls out a bag of tools, which he uses to unhook the pump. An accomplice then helps him lift the motor onto the vehicle.
Lt. Col. Abdul Mohsin Al-Maiman, spokesman for Makkah Police, said a description of both men had been circulated to all police patrol vehicles.
