MAKKAH — A complaint filed by a Saudi woman led to the arrest of several women accused of stealing worshippers' cell phones and money while they were praying. After performing Isha and Taraweeh prayers, the woman noticed that her cell phone was missing. She reported the matter to the Grand Mosque operations room, which alerted the female criminal investigation team in the women's prayer area. The team was able to track the woman's cell phone, which had not been switched off, to the King Fahd expansion area of the mosque. They team soon noticed a woman acting suspiciously and detained her. They found several cell phones in her possession, including the one belonging to the Saudi woman. Upon interrogation, the woman admitted that she was part of a gang and led authorities to seven other fellow members who stole from pilgrims. All eight were handed over to Makkah Police.
