RIYADH – The committee of Foreign Affairs in the Shoura Council charged that most foreign embassies in the Kingdom breach labor and Ministry of Interior laws by employing foreigners in administrative positions or as security guards and not under their sponsorship, Al-Watan daily reported. In its report, the committee said these violations harm the general interests of the Kingdom in its political, security, economic and diplomatic arenas. The foreign staff are often out of touch with Saudi society and its specific needs and don't know how to deal with Saudis, even if they happen to be Arab nationals from other countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged foreign embassies and missions to man such positions with their own nationals or with Saudis and not hire workers and staff of other nationalities who may damage the reputation of the Kingdom. Hiring non-Saudis is a clear violation of the Kingdom's Labor and Passport Department laws. The majority of staff working at foreign embassies and missions has other sponsors, the report said. The committee recommended that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notify embassies and foreign missions to Saudize their jobs related to administrative posts as mentioned.
