Having created a niche for themselves with their mechanic mastery and technical innovation, URWERK has once again demonstrated why they are a favorite with watch aficionados. The launch of the 110 collection has forged new ground with the unbreakable UR-110 TTH, which has been crafted from tantalum, a rare and particularly hard metal and the UR-110 ST which embraces three-dimensionality in its horological architecture. Having won the 2011 Grand Prix de Genève prize for Best Design Watch, the UR-110 is at the forefront of watchmaking excellence, continuing URWERK's radical tradition of telling the time using orbiting satellite complications. The UR-110 TTH is an imposing timepiece that commands respect from the very first glance. With an unbreakable hull, the UR-110 derives its strength from its bezel crafted in rare tantalum that is well known for resistance to corrosion and its bio-inertness. The TTH in the name stands for "Tantalum Hull" and is a distinguishing characteristic of this unique timepiece. Additionally, the armored bezel of the UR-110 TTH boasts a thickness of 4.10mm (as opposed to 2.40mm on other UR-110 models). Additionally denoting a battle-hardened character to the timepiece is the bluish-gray tint of the natural tantalum and the registration number etched on the sapphire crystal of the UR-110 TTH at 8 o'clock. The UR-110 ST is a model that well and truly appeals to the tactile senses, for it can even reveal itself when ones eyes are closed. By running the tips of ones fingers over the dial, one can feel the perfect smoothness of the sapphire crystal soon replaced by grooves in the AlTiN bezel. Such a sensorial experience is unique to URWERK and can be experienced by every UR-110 ST owner. URWERK's 110 collection is available at select Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons retail outlets. – SG
