RIYADH – Mobily launched its awareness campaign targeting prepaid packages subscribers. The campaign emphasizes on the importance of updating the subscribers' account data before the end of July 2012, which is the date set by the Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC). The CITC declares that all operators of telecommunications services in the Kingdom should link any recharging or credit transfer transactions with an ID of the subscriber's ID number - National ID or Iqama. "This campaign aims to minimize selling prepaid packages from unauthorized stores without any identification number, by encouraging the subscribers to update their account data before the due date set by the CITC," said Akil Bin Mohammed Al-Akil, Senior Executive Vice President Regulatory Affairs. He also pointed out Mobily will offer subscribers 200 percent extra credit the first time they recharge their credit after updating their account data. Mobily notified its subscribers via SMS and various advertisements asking them to visit any of Mobily's outlets across the Kingdom to update their account data. In addition, Mobily stressed on the importance of purchasing any of the company's products from their main branches or any verified outlet. In 2008 Mobily launched a massive campaign called "My Identity" calling on subscribers to update their data to prevent using un registered mobile SIM cards. The campaign included offering subscribers 56 luxuries cars as a reward when updating their account data. The campaign registered a huge success as it encouraged many subscribers to update their account data. – SG
