JEDDAH – MESA Sports Academy in conjunction with the Sports Village Club hosted a two-day basketball tournament last Thursday and Friday sponsored by Starbucks. The tournament was organized by coaches Omar Rasheed, Saleh Idris, and Bilal Muhammad (co-founder of MESA Sports). The players were divided into two age groups of 10-14 and 15-19. First, second and third place trophies were awarded along with individual medals (gold, silver and bronze) to the winners. The Most Valuable Player trophy went to Yaman from the Eagles and the best Sportsman trophy was awarded to Shaheed Muhammad from MESA. This was the first of many leagues, tournaments and trainings hosted by MESA and the Sports Village. Ibrahim Al-Dosary (owner of Sports Village) and Jazeer Jamal (Clutch I - IT company) have come together with coach Bilal to build a one-of-a-kind sports center in Saudi Arabia, offering a first-class experience. They will be offering beginner, intermediate and advanced trainings with games, leagues and tournaments in all sports starting in September, the next academic school year. Sports Village is one of the only clubs in the country which is open to the public. All nationalities are welcomed. Sports Village also offers special programs for the deaf, blind, handicapped, orphans and other special needs groups. The club has been remodeled and restructured and has undergone many changes in management and organization with MESA, Dosary, and Clutch I, working together. Coach Bilal said, “We look forward to the coming years offering great services to all community members.”
