Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The Civil Defense here has shut down 43 businesses and fined 1483 others for violating safety regulations. Lt. Col. Muhammad Al-Hamadi, spokesman for Riyadh Civil Defense, said violations included unsafe electrical wiring that could cause fires and storing goods with inflammable material. Inspection visits will continue focusing on downtown Al-Batha, Lt. Col. Al-Hamadi said. Owners of businesses should comply with safety conditions to protect their lives and property, he said, warning violators of severe penalties.
