JEDDAH – Assistant Secretary-General of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohieddin Bin Yahya Hakami bid goodbye to the Japanese Representative of Japan Water Desk Kyoji Nakano as his term ended in the water center that JCCI launched in 2005. The Desk's goal is to support and facilitate investment mainly in water desalination projects, sewage treatment & water reuse systems, and to strengthen partnership between Saudi Arabia and Japan. Hakami also received the new representative of Japan Water Desk in JCCI Koji Muto, wishing him all success in his new position and achievements in the further advancement of commercial and economical relations between the Kingdom and Japan. Muto cited the existing cooperation, through the Japanese water desk. Nakano emphasized the great support that the office gained from JCCI throughout his work period, which enabled him to draw the Japanese experiences in the field of water technology. He hoped to further boost partnerships and investment cooperation in the field of water and other industrial and trading sectors between the two countries. Hakami presented to Nakano a farewell gift from JCCI. The bilateral trade between the Kingdom and Japan reached about SR214 billion, with Japan considered the second strategic economic partner of the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia is the primary exporter of oil to Japan. Moreover, the number of joint projects between both countries reached 24 in infrastructure, industrial, trade and investment sectors. – SG
