Nada Al-Maddah Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — The Makkah municipality recently intensified its crackdown on street peddlers. The general supervisor of municipal branches in Makkah, Saud Al-Hazzani, said that the move was aimed at ensuring public safety. He said the Municipality has joined forces with several government departments to fight street peddlers in areas with high density of visitors and pilgrims. Since the beginning of this year, more than 4,000 street peddlers have been arrested, of which more than 2,700 were expatriates.
