SPEAKERS from various walks of life enlightened students and their parents about the different courses available in their respective fields at the ‘Career Guidance Program' organized by the Indian Youth Welfare Association (IYWA) – Jeddah for class 10-12 students of the Indian community on May 29. Chief guest Sayeed Ahmad Baba, Indian Consul General, speaking at the function urged students to pursue the Indian civil services, such as the IAS, IFS, IPS, etc., which “has considerable career growth potential and gives an opportunity to serve the people,” he said. Guest of honor Shakeel Ahmed, Indian Consul for Education and Cultural Affairs, assured the Indian community of continuous support from the Indian government in the field of education. Speakers at the seminar included: Rasheed Ameer, HR consultant for Center for Information and Guidance India - Jeddah Chapter; Dr Zaid Ahmad Ansari, assistant professor in the Commerce Department of Jeddah Community College, KAAU; Eng. Mohammad Rizwan, a graduate who completed his schooling from International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ); Dr Shakeel Chisty, a medical science graduate with a management degree; Sara Ali, Faculty of Computer Science from College of Computing and Information Technology, KAAU; Wazir Akhtar, who gave an overall view in the field of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Feroze, an ex-serviceman; and others representing various academic and medical institutions here. IYWA honored IISJ physical instructor Zarina Sultana for her 19 years of service to the school, and Mariyam Siddique of IISJ, who topped the CBSE class 12 exams this year. IYWA office bearers Ramnarayan Iyer, chief patron; Muzzamil Hussain, chief coordinator; Anees Hyder Zaidi, president; and Mir Ganzanfar Ali Zaki, general secretary, also spoke on the occasion. A CD titled “Career Guide” that was prepared by IYWA was released by Consul General Baba.
