Aston Martin launched its exclusive range of V12 Zagato at an event held recently for car collectors. Hailed as the most prestigious innovation this year and limited to 150 pieces of hand made classic cars, Zagato's deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year. Zagato wooed all car collectors present during the event. Many visitors at the event told Saudi Gazette the V12 Zagato is a world classic car and has been the most awaited car this year. Zagato, proved for its race-proven engineering competence comes with Aston Martin's 50 years collaboration with the Milanese design atelier Zagato Carrozzeria. With top speed of 190 mph / 306 km/h and acceleration; 0-62 Mph (0-100 kph) 4.2 seconds it comes with a power of 380(509) )/6500 KW(hp)/RPM. Michael Van Der Sande, chief commercial officer for Aston Martin and Nathan Gore-Brown VIP Sales manager, said production will be limited to just 150 units. Michael van der Sande told the Saudi Gazette "the opportunity with a car like this is to make young boys dream and mature people collect. And that's the way it should be." He said the V-12 Zagato is an individual car and is not generic in its production process. It is built one car at a time, each taking up to 2,000 manhours by highly skilled craftsmen at Aston Martin's Gaydon facility in England. Ali Husein Alireza, CEO of Haji Husein Alireza, distributor of Aston Martin in Saudi Arabia, presented a documentary about the V12 Zagato. "Aston Martin and Zagato have collaborated once again to create this modern interpretation of the marque which remains true to the company's original focus of craftsmanship, performance and exclusivity," he said. Alireza said V12 Zagato has a huge desirability as a collectors item due to it's unmatched design, race derived technology and strictly limited masterpieces. "The design of the car combines function and form perfectly." Inspired by the V8 Vantage Zagato, particularly the glass surfaces used to create the illusion of the "disappearance" of the windshield pillar, the V12 Zagato combines the structural and technological design parameters and materials of the Vantage and fabled Aston Martin One-77. "The techniques and materials used are a result of the technology used in the iconic Aston Martin One-77 series. "For example, the roof, door and hood panels are all individually hand made because their complex forms and rigidity demanded it." – SG __
