The reality talent show “The Voice” which has gained huge success with its versions in the US and Europe will soon be broadcast on MBC, announced Ali Jaber, MBC Group Director Monday, after signing an agreement in Dubai with Talpa and Sony Pictures Television (“SPT”) Arabia, from whom MBC Group acquired the exclusive rights to broadcast the international TV format. “We are pleased to announce this multi-year agreement, in our capacity as the exclusive broadcaster of this international TV format that has gained much popularity and viewership across the world”, said Jaber. Talent shows have positively affected the TV viewing habits, patterns and trends in the region and enhanced the family viewing experience, he pointed out. The talent show is based on the original version “The Voice of Holland” which proved to be the most-watched vocal competition show in the history of Dutch TV when it was broadcast in 2011. Versions of the same show appeared later on the American channel (NBC), France (TF1), Britain (BBC) and got equally popular and scored high viewership ratings. The show consists of three stages: the blind audition; a battle stage and live performance shows. Musician coaches will develop the singing abilities of contestants and lead them to success.
