DHAHRAN — Over 120 establishments and organizations from private and public sectors are participating in the 29th Annual Career Day event organized by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
The event, opened Monday by Prince Jalawi Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Emir of the Eastern Province, seeks to acquaint university students, especially those nearing their graduation, with job opportunities and training programs offered by the participating organizations.
The Career Day offers students knowledge about the nature of labor market and the qualifications they should have to meet the needs of the market. Freshmen would also benefit from the event and would get to learn the skills they need to choose the right specialization based on the needs of the market.
Dr. Misfer Al-Zahrani, dean of student affairs and chairman of the event's organizing committee, dwelt on how the university was utilizing its capabilities to develop human resources and prepare qualified cadre in addition to forging strong relations with production and service sectors. The university, he said, has developed a unique academic method to prepare students well and enhance their creativity and innovative skills using state-of-the-art technology.
Deya Elyas, director of recruitment department in Saudi Aramco, said students should take full advantage of the event which would acquaint them with various job opportunities that help them contribute to the development of the country.
“Our priority in Aramco is to attract qualified Saudi staff and invest in potentially-creative staff as Khalid Al-Faleh, Saudi Aramco President and CEO, reiterated in his speech at International Higher Education Conference held a couple of weeks ago.”
Aramco has designed a program to enrich the youth and develop their skills in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and other fields related to education. The program aims to train two million Saudi youths by 2020 to hone their skills. Aramco is planning to transform into a company which provides comprehensive energy and chemicals services in the Kingdom and around the world, a transformation which needs more qualified Saudi youth . __
