Roots of education are bitter, but fruits are sweet Hala Essam Eldin English teacher Orbit International School, Al-Khobar Education paves the path to success. It is a life-long process that gives the students the gear needed in their journey in life. That's how I personally see “education”. I started teaching eleven years ago, and during these years teaching has changed dramatically. It has become student-based instead of teacher-based. Teachers must put in a lot more efforts now to engage students in study as they are now surrounded with wealth of information through the Internet. The Internet can provide an explanation for any concept. Therefore, the role of teachers relies in presenting this abstract information into a life-related one; information that can build up their skills and abilities. In this competitive and challenging modern world, there is no place for average people. Everyone must discover his inner gift and unearth it in order to be able to compete. Here comes our responsibility as educators. We are there with our students to help them discover and strengthen their hidden treasures. This could be done through a variety of activities. The education delivered at school must serve this purpose. However, education is not limited to school. The family and the community as a whole play a vital role in preparing the youth for the future. It is a great effort that must be deployed by each and every one to facilitate this crucial mission of education. The roots of education might be bitter, but surely the fruits are always sweet.
