Interpol is looking for a Saudi man who fled the Kingdom with SR1 billion and was reported by Saudi security to the international police organization, according to an Arabic daily. The man took money from a number of wealthy people 10 years ago and promised to invest it in various real estate developments. An informed source said that the man fled the country in October 2006 right before his name was put on a travel ban list and circulated to ports of entry and departure. It is believed he initially escaped to a Gulf country before moving to Libya and then Egypt at which point calls to his family suddenly stopped, according to the source. When the man's real estate projects began to face problems, one of the investors filed a complaint with the police. The man promised investors that he would return their money soon, but he was only trying to buy time to arrange for his getaway. When he felt the police were going arrest him, he left the Kingdom. The investors were shocked to learn that he had fled the country after having promised to refund their money in installments.
