The assailants stabbed the victim several times in the abdomen before fleeing the scene. Doctors succeeded in saving his life after multiple reconstructive surgeries. When he regained consciousness, he communicated with the police by writing on pieces of paper and drawing sketches of his attackers. Narrating the details of the bloody incident, his relative who declined to give his name said he came to see the victim at noon. When he stepped into the flat he found the victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He instantly called the victim's uncle who reported the incident to the police and Red Crescent before leaving for his nephew's flat. Red Crescent rushed him to King Fahd General Hospital in Jeddah but he was moved to Dr. Erfan General Hospital. Dr Sami Al-Iraqi, Head of the Emergency Department at Dr. Erfan Hospital, said he found that one of the stab wounds had cut through the carotid artery and the jugular vein and another 16 cm cut across the neck and windpipe. Doctors worked tirelessly in the operating theatre to repair the windpipe and abdomen. Once the wounds heal, the victim will need to undergo plastic surgery to disguise the scars on the neck. The Police and CID are currently investigating the crime. Brig. Mesfir Al-Juaid said the testimony given by the defendant was being used to help uncover the perpetrators. He said the victim indicated that two of the criminals were of African descent. __
