Nekhaifee Okaz/Saudi Gazette AL-ARIDAH – Reports of a three-year-old Saudi child shooting his father dead for not buying him a Playstation are all baseless, the grandfather of the child has said. Mufrah Al-Fifi was accidentally killed when his child Nawaf pulled the trigger by mistake, said Ali Al-Fifi, the grandfather. “These are baseless rumors; news that doesn't have a shred of truth,” he said of the recent media reports. “My grandchild is an innocent kid who doesn't know the concept of death. He was the favorite child of his late father. What happened was just an accident. Period” “Mufrah used to bring Nawaf toy guns made of plastic and it was Nawaf's habit to play with the toy guns. On that day, Mufrah returned home after a hectic day and sat down to take rest. Nawaf started playing with his father's gun and pulled the trigger by mistake,” Al-Fifi said. “Hearing the gunshot, Mufrah's three wives stormed into the room to find their husband lying in a pool of blood.” Al-Fifi has accepted Allah's fate. He said Nawaf did not know the catastrophe his innocence has caused. “When we ask him where his father is, Nawaf says he is in the hospital and will return tomorrow, and bring him a toy because he loves him,” the grandfather said. Dr. Abdul Al-Mirabi, a psychologist, said a three-year old child cannot understand such events. It's wrong to say that he did it on purpose. “Children this age understand one concept only: jealousy. “They feel jealous of other kids his age not adults.” __
