smoking activists are warning parents that some toys on the market resemble cigarettes and are encouraging young people to smoke. Muhammad Al-Attas, Executive Director of the anti-smoking Kafa society, said his society's teams have found toys that “can distort facts and concepts related to smoking in a child”. These toys would be “strong encouragement” for a child to start smoking in future, he added. Al-Attas said the society, through its constant cultural and awareness programs, seeks to influence children and teach them about the dangers of smoking. Al-Attas stressed that parents have a significant role to play by not buying toys that look like cigarette packs, or like shisha or water pipes. Some people buy small water pipes to decorate their houses, not aware of the dangerous effect it can have on children who want to explore and experiment.
