CAIRO: The Saudi ambassador to Egypt has said the Kingdom “respects the Egyptian leadership and people” and “does not allow itself to interfere in its internal affairs”. Ahmad Qattan, who is also the Saudi Permanent Representative to the Arab League, told Al-Ahram daily newspaper in Cairo that King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is resolved to “bolster and expand relations” for the good of both countries. Qattan also denied media speculation about the relationship with former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak. “The Kingdom does not allow itself to intervene in any way in Egyptian domestic affairs,” Qattan said. The ambassador said he hoped for the stability in Egypt that would bring an increase in investments from Saudi businesses. “I am fully confident that Egypt is on the way toward a prosperous future,” Qattan said.
