The Jeddah Summer Festival starting on July 17 is expected to attract two million visitors and generate income of over SR5 billion, said Dr. Khaled Bin Fahd Al-Harithy, Head of the Hospitality and Tourism Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI). He said both domestic and international visitors are expected at the 35-day event, the biggest the city has organized so far. Adnan Mandoura, JCCI Secretary General, said over 50 government agencies are taking part. Hundreds of new companies are also participating for the first time. He said the festival promotes local tourism and rejuvenates the economy of the coastal city. There will be more than 200 major and secondary activities. The festival was launched 14 years ago and is known for its varied entertainment, recreation and shopping attractions. It takes place under the patronage of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah region. Sheikh Saleh Kamel, Chairman of the JCCI, said the festival has been a success because it has always catered to the needs of visitors.
