Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation has donated SR726,000 to the Mawadah Foundation to help support 500 female law graduates, a press release said Tuesday. The graduates will work in law firms to defend the rights of divorced women. The donation supports a training program that includes a set of modules in various specialized fields of law. The goals of the program include contributing to raising the efficiency of justice in marital and family cases; training women specialized to plead before courts and to counsel on legal issues; and disseminating a culture of human rights in family issues. The project is in partnership with the Mawadah Foundation, which was established in 2009 and is headed by Princess Sarah Bint Mosaed. The foundation aims to reduce divorce rates in the Kingdom by raising public awareness of the importance of the family for the stability of society, helping protect families from breakups and marriage failure, and providing support for those going through a divorce. The foundation also supports research on the topic of divorce in order to provide better solutions. Alwaleed Foundation's Women Empowerment Initiative aims to support institutions that are active in raising awareness of women's legal rights. Moreover, the initiative supports vocational training programs for women aspiring to careers in various fields, as well as helping women with limited income learn to design handicrafts.
