The Specialist Penal Court sentenced Wednesday five Saudis and two Egyptians to various prison terms and imposed fines for incitement against the country's rulers, sedition, and disrespecting the state, its security and judicial institutions. They were also found guilty of producing seditious material and putting it on the Web. Pronouncing the verdict, the judge said it was based on the testimony given by the first, second, third and fourth defendants in which they admitted that they published material inciting the public against the country's leader and instigating sedition. The first defendant, who is a professor of Shariah in one of the universities in the Kingdom, was sentenced to five years in prison effective from the day of his detention and also fined SR100,000 according to Article Six of the anti-cyber crimes law. The first three defendants were also barred from traveling abroad. The two Egyptians were ordered to be deported upon completion of their sentences. They will not be allowed to enter the Kingdom again, the judge ruled. All the defendants have asked to appeal the ruling. __
