Prominent Egyptian comedian actor Adel Emam has refused to apologize to Egyptian lawyer Assran Mansour after the latter filed a lawsuit against the actor accusing him of insulting Islam. Safwat Hussein, Adel's lawyer, said that the actor did not insult anyone and he has no intention of apologizing to anyone for something he did not do. Safwat also denied reports that Adel apologized to Assran Mansour, and said that Assran is a religious man who should be more forgiving especially due to the fact that Adel is not the person responsible for what gets passed through the Egyptian Censorship Committee. Safwat noted that all the films Adel acted in were passed through the committee and if they were insulting as was alleged they would not have passed. The Janih Al Haram Court in Cairo has set April 24 to be the final hearing in the appeal filed by Adel's lawyer to the previous sentence against him of a three month imprisonment for insulting Islam in his films.
