The Pakistani professional community organized a cultural program and family get-together under the auspices of the Forum of Pakistani Expatriates on March 22 to celebrate the Lahore Resolution, which was passed on March 24, 1940. The Lahore Resolution, more commonly known as the Pakistan Resolution, is considered a first step toward a new homeland for the people living in the Muslim-majority North East and North West provinces of British India. The program started with introductory speeches focusing on the importance of the Pakistan Resolution. It was followed by the screening of a movie on historical and scenic spots in Pakistan and patriotic songs. A colorful tableau played out around Allama Iqbal's celebrated poem “Lab Pay Aati Hay Duaa.” A speech contest among students of different age groups gave a rare opportunity to Pakistani students to thoroughly study the Pakistan Resolution and present their views to lead the country out of the present-day crisis. Asim Khan and a group of professionals from Sabic, Marafiq, Chevron and other such organizations and their families worked day and night to make the event a success. The program was compered by Ale Imran and coordinated by Jamil Haq, Imran Nadeem, Irfan, Amir Saleem, and several others. The cultural program ended with all participants singing the national anthem. A lunch of traditional Pakistani dishes was served. Later in the day, Pakistan's win in the Asia Cricket Cup in Dhaka doubled the celebratory mood. The Pakistani professional community in Jubail has been active in promoting cultural gatherings to celebrate the home country's historical milestone events.
