A total of 154 Saudi students who studied in Syria have been given the option by the Ministry of Higher Education to study at home or abroad, said Abdullah Bin Ibrahim Al-Rakban, who was Cultural Attaché at the Kingdom's embassy in Syria. “In coordination with the Kingdom's embassy in Syria before its closure, the embassy held a series of meetings with Saudi students to inform them they had to leave Syria and offered them the choice to pursue their studies at any Saudi government or private university or enroll at any foreign university recognized by the Kingdom,” said Al-Rakban. He said the Saudi students studying medicine and dentistry have been given the option to move to any government university in Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain or the United Arab Emirates. The ministry is considering some options for students who are studying at their own expense which includes helping them to study at local government and private universities. He said all Saudis have been helped to leave Syria since the political upheaval in that country. __
