Int'l experts to address women's health in 3-day forum starting today

The 21st Annual Scientific Meeting of SOGS (Saudi Obstetric and Gynecological Society) titled “Challenges in Women's Health” is to be launched at the Jeddah InterContinental Hotel on Monday. More than 40 local and international speakers and experts will put forward 56 papers on women's health including osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity, inflammation, ovarian cysts, infertility, and urinary tract problems.
The three-day event will be inaugurated by Prince Misha'l Bin Majed, Governor of Jeddah, and will be attended by specialists from GCC states, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, India, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, South Korea, France, Australia and Canada.
Prof. Hassan Jamal, chairman of SOGS, said the event will also tackle some men's health issues.
“The conference seeks to promote health care programs for women and consider strategies to advance women's health and halt the continuing deterioration in the levels of women's healthcare which resulted in an increased incidence of serious diseases in recent years.”
Gynecologist Dr. Hisham Arab said that this medical meeting embraces many big names in this field such as Prof. Wilfredo Symbayko, secretary general of the Asian Oceanic Federation of Obstetrics and gynecology (AOFOG), and Prof. Yoshi Nick, president of the Asian Society.
The specialists will provide special seminars about a study on the freezing of eggs and ovaries tissues for many years using several successful methods. Prof. Pak Hang Chu of Honk Kong is also expected to present a study on the uses of growth hormone and another newly discovered hormone responsible for improving the thrive of IVF.
He said: “We are awaiting with excitement to listen to a large number of international, regional, and national speakers sharing their experiences about the day to day practice of their specialty and subspecialties.
“This will also be an arena for young gynecologists to race for winning the Annual Award presented by SOGS. We are sure this will pose us with great difficulty of choice, as most of abstracts submitted are of high caliber.” __
