The Shoura Council is expected to discuss a proposal next week urging the ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, and Saudi missions abroad, to link their computer networks to prevent deportees from reentering the Kingdom. The council's Foreign Affairs Committee recommendation on a linked computer network is aimed at missions abroad that have been granting visas unknowingly to expatriates banned from the Kingdom, it was reported in a section of the Arabic press on Friday. The committee noticed that some expatriates were denied entry at airports and other ports of entry even though they were given visas by Saudi missions abroad. The Shoura Council will also discuss a recommendation to help distraught Saudis abroad. The committee said some Saudi citizens abroad complained that they were not getting adequate help from some Saudi missions. The council will also discuss a proposal to Saudize jobs in Saudi missions abroad. The committee called for Saudi staff to be given incentives to stay including social insurance. The committee said most Saudi missions employ non-Saudi staff in administrative jobs because Saudis prefer not to work there because of the lack of social insurance and job security. Meanwhile, the Shoura Council will also vote on previous recommendations to stop expatriates from working for people who are not their sponsors. The recommendations also dealt with modifying recruitment visa fees and residence permit fees for housemaids to prevent the creation of a visa black market. The current recruitment visa fee is SR2,000.
