During the Open House organized by the Indian Embassy in Riyadh on March 14, the Federation of Kerala Associations in Saudi Arabia (FOKASA), Thajudeen and Harikrishnan helped complainants to file petitions for the resolution of several issues. After getting denied by one consular officer for not producing the “original petition” filed against him, a petrol station worker in Buraidah, Jerish, is now free to have a “Power of Attorney” attested by the Indian Embassy related to a matrimonial case pending against him at a court in Trivandrum a few weeks ago. The Embassy has agreed to reimburse Jomon Joseph for the repatriation expenses of his relative Rojo Joseph, who met a road traffic accident on his second day in the Kingdom and eventually died in India on Feb. 19. Two heavy-duty drivers in Hotha Ben Thamim who were forced to drive without licenses and Iqamas (residence permits), were assured that their sponsor will be contacted soon and that they will receive help for their final exit. The case of a graphic designer alleged to have tampered with the website of his sponsor was resolved amicably. Embassy officials contacted the sponsor and agreed to send Thomas on exit after having an expert examine the website. An emergency certificate will be given to Agasthian Pillai Amalraj, who has been staying as an “unknown” patient for the past two months at a government hospital in Al-Kharj. He was brought there by police after he was found behaving irrationally in the streets. FOKASA has been tasked to deal with the case of Sirajudheen, an Indian driver who was made to pay around SR130,000 after a vehicular accident in which three cars were involved. FOKASA will contact all car owners and work to reduce the damage compensation claims. Also addressed was the case of Anoop and Parameswaran, who were brought to Saudi Arabia on visas stolen from a big company by a local Sudanese agent and his Indian sub-agent. The victims were unable to legalize their status after failing to acquire Iqamas the agent promised. The local agent was summoned and was asked to return the complete money he got from the victims. FOKASA Gen. Sec. Mala Mohiyudheen was tasked to deal with the case of Nithyanandan from Tamil Nadu, whose sponsor denied him emergency leave to see his sick wife. Certificates to prove his wife is ill was also produced at the Embassy.
