Once again Arabs will go to the Security Council hoping that it will issue a resolution to save the Syrian people from the suffering which they have undergone for well over a year at the hands of a regime which has used all forms of oppression to kill its people. Once again Russia and China will not allow the Security Council to pass the sought-after resolution which would end the bloodshed in Syrian and save the lives of thousands of innocent civilians. The important question is: What is the point of having a Security Council session when a Russian and Chinese veto will give the Syrian killing machine the green light to continue its rampage through the streets of the country? A meeting of foreign ministers of UN Security Council nations is taking place after President Al-Assad refused to hold a dialogue with the opposition. And it is being held after UN-Arab League peace envoy Kofi Annan left Damascus without managing to secure an accord to end the bloodletting in Syria. In addition to continuing to kill its own people, the Al-Assad regime is depriving the entire Syrian people of their right to have the government of their choice. Even if a political solution can be found, who is going to be held accountable and pay the price for the 10,000 Syrians who have been killed so far? International injustice should end now and should not continue rewarding the Syrian regime for killing innocent people nor should it call for holding dialogues with this regime which appears ready and willing to sacrifice the lives of all of its people in order to stay in power. __
