A total of 1,644 scouts and captains from the Education General Administration in Al-Ahsa Governorate collected over 12 tons of paper, plastic and metal garbage recently. The initiative was part of the national scout's project for protecting the environment and it covered 20 parks. Friday marked the end of the fourth round. Captain Adnan Al-Darweesh, project coordinator, said that 319 Saudi nationals and expatriates volunteered to participate in the weeklong project. “The scouts have contributed in disseminating the culture of volunteerism among picnickers, who quickly expressed their readiness to volunteer in the campaign with the scouts.” The scouts are to be presented a merit badge depicting the service they voluntarily provided.
