Demagoguery and sit-ins are the red lines we will not allow anyone to cross, warned Prince Faisal Bin Khaled, Emir of Asir region, during his inspection of the Girls' College at King Khaled University, Friday. Some female students of the college were hurt during a sit-in inside the college campus Wednesday. Prince Faisal has ordered an investigation into the incident. He also promised to announce the results of investigations with all transparency. During a 30-minute meeting with the college's female dean and deputy dean, Prince Faisal discussed the incident. He also chaired a meeting with the university's president and vice presidents and directed them to address all shortcomings immediately. The students had reportedly staged a sit-in to protest what they said was a pileup of rubbish on the campus and a breakdown in hygienic conditions. The Hai'a, in a statement carried by Al-Watan newspaper, confirmed that it had intervened at the university but denied that its men had attacked the women. The university, meanwhile, issued a statement saying it had asked police to intervene Wednesday after “female students gathered on the campus and began shouting in a way that contradicts” campus regulations. It also accused the father of one of the students of having triggered the problem by sacking a refuse collector, which caused the rubbish to pile up. __
