The killing of the Saudi diplomat in Bangladesh is unjustifiable and unacceptable. International conventions require countries to guarantee the safety of foreign diplomats on their soil. The killing of diplomats is a blemish on the history of the country where the crime occurs because of the failure to provide adequate protection. The reason behind the killing of Khalaf Al-Ali, head of the Citizens' Affairs Unit of the Saudi Embassy in Dhaka, is not clear yet and the Saudi government has the right to demand that the Bangladeshi security authorities conduct a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the crime. Reports said that the Saudi diplomat was shot once and that his murderers might have shot him somewhere and left his body on a road near his residence in Dhaka's Gulshan area because police have not found any trace of blood at the place where the body was found. Whether the crime was politically motivated or was committed to settle scores, the perpetrators should be arrested and put on trial. The blood of a Saudi citizen is precious and the perpetrators should realize that the Kingdom, which has based its policies on justice and noble human values, will not alter its call for swift justice. The Kingdom also demands that the Bangladeshi government provide full protection for the Saudi corps of diplomats in Bangladesh so that such a crime will never happen again. __
