The event was attended by Ali Al-Ashiri, Egyptian Consul. The underpass is 590 meters long and 29 meters wide. Abu Ras said he will inaugurate Tuesday the underpass at the intersection of King Abdul Aziz Road and King Abdullah Road, which was also built for SR123 million. Next Saturday, the Jeddah mayor will open the SR113 million underpass at the intersection of Prince Majed Street, Abdullah Al-Sulaiman Street and Bakhshab Street. The Egyptian Consul said the project took the Egyptian company four years to complete. “Egyptian companies have considerable experience in tunnel and underpass projects and they'll cooperate with the authorities in the Kingdom to implement more projects here.” The consul also said that the Egyptian parliament is very interested in the causeway project to link Jeddah and Egypt. “This vital project will serve the interests of both sides. I hope the implementation starts soon.” The causeway will help increase the number of Haj and Umrah pilgrims from Egypt, he added. __
